Iraq Sister Run

In 2004, the gym at FOB Warhorse was dedicated to Captain Christopher S. Cash and named the CASH Fitness Center.  As a civilian, Captain Cash worked as an exercise physiologist and personal trainer at ViQuest in Greenville North Carolina.  It was his dream to open his own fitness facility, with the focus on childhood obesity, when he returned home from Iraq.  It was a fitting tribute to have a gym in Iraq named after him.

From 2006 until 2010, we held a Reindeer Dash for Cash sister run at the CASH Fitness Center in Iraq with nearly 200 runners each year.  It was an honor to organize the sister runs providing an opportunity for our troops to remember one of their fallen comrades as well as bring some holiday cheer their way.

In 2009, we held two additional sister runs at FOB Mahmudiyah and FOB Falcon for our NC National Guard while on their second deployment to Iraq.  These two runs had 500 runners and raised $4,200 to honor one of their very own.

In 2011, all of our troops have returned, or will be returning, from Iraq and we no longer need to hold a sister run.

I would like to thank everyone in Iraq that had a part in organizing and running the race on-site.  Thank you for continuing to honor our hero, Captain Cash.  And thank you for your service to our great country.
