This event is being held to honor our hometown hero, Captain Christopher S. Cash, who died in service to his country in Iraq. Proceeds from the race will go into the Capt. Christopher Cash Memorial Foundation of NC, Inc. which awards annual scholarships in his memory.
In its seventh year in 2011, we drew a record field of 834 entries, making it Greenville’s largest race. Nicholas Kurgat won the featured 10 Miler in 50:47 for the men. Heather Magill won the women's title in 58:49. Blake Justice won the 5K in 17:44. Stephanie Jilcott won the women's 5K in 19:56.

Team competitions in both the 5k and the 10-Mile runs, must include three (3) and no more than five (5) individuals. Team scores will only include the first three (3) finishers on each team. Awards will be given to the top three teams. Team divisions will be top military and civilian. Team registration forms must be mailed together in order to be entered and registered as a team. Team members must be participating in the same event.

Cash awards for the top three male/female 10 Miler overall finishers. Unique awards for the top three male/female in each age group. Must be present to receive or mailed upon your request for a $5.00 charge. Unique finisher medal, race t-shirt and post race food for all participants. Door Prizes also available. Must be present to win.
Per USATF rules, all awards are given based upon gun time.
Cash awards for the 10 Miler: 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place
A pair of New Balance running shoes awarded to the 1st Place Overall Male/Female, 10 Miler/5K.
Age groups are as follows:
10 Miler: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and over.
5k: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and over.
Note: In 2012, we will have age groups added for 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.
Both the 10 Miler and 5k will begin at 1:00 PM and will start/finish at the Town Common in Greenville. Both courses are USATF certified and described as "flat and fast." Timing services provided by Precision Race using the Jaguar disposable bib-chip timing.
All participants must complete the 10 Miler within 2 1/2 hours.
